Housing Catalyst: Mason Place
Early in January 2021 our partners at Housing Catalyst opened Mason Place, a second permanent supportive housing apartment complex in Fort Collins. Permanent supportive housing is one approach to housing first, which is widely considered the best approach for housing folks experiencing homelessness. Permanent supportive housing at Mason Place offers residents a fully furnished home in a beautiful building with supportive services. Staff are on site 24/7 and walk together with residents as they set-up a home and transition from life on the street into housing.
Mason Place is the second of Housing Catalysts’ permanent supportive housing complexes (the first was Redtail Ponds, which opened in 2015). Mason Place has 60 apartments, which are on their way to being filled and will help over 60 people escape homelessness. Partners from all over our community are working with clients and staff at Mason Place to complete applications, track down documents, and prepare clients for move in at Mason Place.
Outreach Fort Collins has been thrilled to assist four clients with their process of moving in to Mason Place. We have worked with numerous partners to track down ID’s, secure deposit assistance, write letters for emotional support animals, and generally walk together with clients through the whole process. Combined, these four residents have experienced 40+ years of homelessness and the opportunity to have permanent, secure, supportive housing is literally life changing for them.
